First report of Colletotrichum siamense causing anthracnose on white frangipani (Plumeria alba) in Malaysia
Plant Disease 105 (9 - 2614)
Abstract: During 2020, ornamental Plumeria alba trees grown in Malaysia were observed with symptoms of anthracnose on the leaves, and affecting about 60% of the leaves. Initially small circular necrotic spots appeared that rapidly enlarged into black lesions with pale brown borders. The fungus Colletotrichum siamense was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and DNA sequence analysis. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation and re-isolation.
